Find the Right Hospital Department

Start with the referral or existing report

Use the department named in a referral when one is available. If a report uses a different department name, ask the hospital registration or international service to confirm its equivalent. A website directory cannot determine a diagnosis or treatment plan.

Prepare a short department enquiry

Include the purpose of the visit, the department you were referred to, available report dates, your preferred language and any travel constraints. Ask which documents must be reviewed before an appointment can be offered.

Common department names

Cardiology: 心血管内科. Neurology: 神经内科. Orthopaedics: 骨科. Oncology: 肿瘤科. Dentistry / stomatology: 口腔科. These are language aids; actual clinics may be divided differently. Ask the hospital which clinic to book.

Compare the practical details

For each proposed appointment, confirm the hospital and campus, department, clinician if assigned, date, identification requirements, interpreter arrangements and payment route. Keep the confirmation in writing.
